In the book "The Power of Your Subconscious Mind", the author Joseph Murphy tells us that the mind is divided into two areas, with different functions: the conscious mind and the subconscious mind.

To make clear the distinction of our mind, Joseph makes an analogy of the garden and the gardener. The conscious is the gardener and the subconscious is the garden.
